The Certified Wine Professional exam is a 125 question exam with a thirty minute time limit. All of the questions are multiple choice. The test is taken online. The passing grade is 75% or better.

After purchase of exam, students will receive a log in, or use their current log in, to then take the exam. The exam is 30 minutes in length and will begin on your prompt. Can you have your books and notes out? Sure, but if you don’t know the material those won’t help you. 125 questions in 30 minutes is arduous. You won’t have time to look back and forth at material. Either you know it, or you don’t. A timed test of this magnitude is the ultimate test of knowledge and retention.

There is no application for the exam. The exam is available to anyone in the world who wants to take it.

After completing the exam with a passing grade of 75%, you will receive a certificate, a pin and will earn the ability to use “Certified Wine Professional” or “CWP” on your email signature, business cards, social media profiles, etc.

Our policy is simple, any person that has access to a computer and internet, from anywhere in the world, can take our exam.

Retesting
If you do not pass and need to re-take the exam, you may re-take it one time per quarter until you pass. The test retaking fee is $50 each time you take the test.

Recertification
There will be a necessary recertification exam every 3 years to keep the “Certified Wine Professional” title. Recertification fee: $50
